Photo therapy at Heeman’s

I’ve been going to Heeman’s since I moved to London in 2015, and every time I stop by, I leave energized and happy. It must be the fresh air, the gorgeous selection of plants, kind people and delicious strawberries. This time, it was no different. Even though I spent the entire day working, I still felt a deep sense of joy!

I walked around the greenhouse countless times, and with each round, I found new exciting things to capture. Will Heeman gave me a full tour through the production area and showed me where the magic happens. Some lovely ladies were planting seedlings one at a time while chatting about their family adventures, while some other staff members were watering the plants or organizing the seeds.

A few hours passed, and it was time to move onto the cider production area, where Tom Heeman kindly explained the process and allowed me to try their cider in all stages of production, from apple juice to full-on goodness. I couldn’t help but admire his brilliant mind, with only one year into this new venture, he spoke like a well-experienced cider-master. You’ll notice how much he loves this stuff with only 5 minutes with him!

I met the ladies in the assembly line, and talked to saw Susan, Tom’s wife and business partner. I also had the pleasure of trying the new flavours that were going to be released to the public two weeks later. The lineup includes: Ambrosia, Berry Blush, Dry Empire and Original Dry Cider.

From plants to cider, to honey. The last part of the shoot involved photographing their wild honey jars (with honeycomb, bees and all), followed by an inspiring conversation with Will about the differences between business and creative minds. I couldn’t ask for more, it was a great day at “the office.”
