The Really Nice Sauce

Hamaka Creativity Lab is a commercial food photography studio, and I, Alieska, am a plant-based eater, borderline raw-foodie. In this line of work and current home town of London, Ontario, it is uncommon to work with brands and establishments in tune with eating habits. Roughly 70% of our client work is based on animal products and preparations that we never get to try. However, we agree that they look mouth-watering on camera!

We don't know if there is enough work for a "Plantbased ONLY food photography studio" in London, Ontario, but we'll put that out there in the universe, hoping to make it happen sooner than later! It's time to make things sync up!

It makes such a difference to be able to try the product before photographing it. It allows for a deeper connection and an intensified motivation to help the brand succeed! This was the case for our project with Terry and his wife, Julie, on the launch images for The Really Nice Sauce Co, the first certified organic, vegan, and chef-made sauce in Canada! The photoshoot included some animal-based recipes, but the majority was plantbased, and the sauce itself is 100% vegan!

We spent the entire week leading to the photoshoot using their bbq sauce for lunches and dinners at home and it felt so good!! We divided the photoshoot into two sessions, one for the catalogue image and another for the website and social media marketing. Here is a little taste of the photos we created!
